Pocket KiView Source-Available License 1.0
Effective date: 23 October 2026
Copyright (c) 2026 Yawar B (wayri). All rights reserved except as granted below.
Licensing contact: support.kivi@sigharmonic.com

1. Scope and ownership
This license applies to the original Pocket KiView / KiCad Visual Review code,
documentation and included owner-authored SPIKE subset supplied with this license
(the Software), to the extent Yawar B (wayri) holds the necessary rights. It does
not license the rest of the SPIKE repository. Separately licensed third-party
material and previously granted rights are governed by their own terms (section
6). Copyright and other intellectual property remain with their rights holders.
This is a source-available license, not an open-source license.

2. Permitted use and modification
You may obtain, install, run and make backup copies of lawfully supplied copies
of the Software, without a license fee, for personal, educational, research,
community and internal professional or business use. If source is supplied to
you lawfully, you may inspect and modify it for those purposes. This grant does
not itself require the licensor to disclose private repositories, credentials,
third-party proprietary code or source not supplied with your copy.

You may share the Software and your modifications without compensation if you
include this complete license, preserve copyright and third-party notices,
clearly identify your changes, and give recipients no fewer rights under this
license. A recipient receives these permissions directly from the licensor;
you cannot grant a broader commercial license on the licensor's behalf.

3. Commercial distribution requires written permission
Unless separately authorized in writing by Yawar B (wayri), you must not:
(a) sell, rent, lease or otherwise distribute or sublicense the Software or a
modified or derivative version in exchange for money or other consideration;
(b) include it as a supplied component of a paid software product, subscription,
appliance or other paid bundle, even if its price is not separately itemized;
(c) provide paid hosted, managed, API or software-as-a-service access to its
functionality, or monetize such access through advertising or sponsorship; or
(d) give a third party rights to perform any of the activities above.
A written commercial agreement must identify the authorized scope. This license
alone is not that agreement. Contact the licensing email above for permission.

4. Professional work, outputs and independent services
Internal deployment to your organization's staff is permitted under section 2;
ordinary salaries do not make that deployment a paid distribution. You may use
the Software in paid engineering or other professional work. You retain your
rights in your own designs, data, comments, reports and other outputs; you may
sell or license those outputs without permission under this license, provided
they do not contain or distribute the Software itself. Independent consulting,
training or support fees are permitted where they are not payment for a copy,
license, hosted access or a paid bundle of the Software. You remain responsible
for third-party rights in your input files and outputs.

5. Notices and branding
Preserve legal notices and do not misrepresent authorship, your changes, or
endorsement. No trademark license or right to use the project's branding as
your own is granted. Accurate descriptive references and required attribution
are permitted. Do not represent this license as OSI-approved or open source.

6. Third-party rights and mandatory law
Third-party components retain their own licenses, including any rights to use,
modify, reverse engineer, redistribute or sell those components. This license
does not narrow those rights or any valid earlier license. Component-specific
terms control those components where they differ. See THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md
and the notices supplied with individual components. Nothing here restricts
rights that applicable law does not permit to be restricted.

7. No warranty; engineering verification
To the extent permitted by law, the Software is supplied AS IS, without express
or implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular
purpose and non-infringement. Independently check engineering results, exports
and resolved designs. The Software does not certify electrical correctness,
safety or manufacturing readiness. Keep backups.

8. Liability and termination
To the extent permitted by law, the licensor and contributors are not liable
for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, lost profits, lost
data or business interruption arising from the Software. This does not exclude
liability or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Your permissions terminate for a material breach not cured within 30 days after
written notice from the licensor. On termination, stop the unpermitted use and
distribution and delete affected copies, except copies required by law and any
third-party material you may retain under its own license. Compliant recipients'
independent rights are not terminated by your breach. Existing compliant grants
are not withdrawn merely by publishing different terms for future versions.

9. Other terms and contributions
Privacy, account use and user-content rules are addressed separately. They do
not grant commercial distribution permission. Contributions do not automatically
transfer copyright or authorize relicensing; a separate contributor agreement
is needed for that purpose. Any broader grant must be in a separate written
agreement with the relevant rights holder. No price, exclusive commercial right
or obligation to provide future updates or support is promised by this license.
